Is East Mersea Hall Licensed for Civil Ceremonies?

We are licensed with Essex County Council for both inside and outside ceremonies.

Areas include:

The Drawing Room 100 guests’ maximum capacity.

The Walled Garden 150 guests’ maximum capacity.

The tranquil Woodlands 150 guests’ maximum capacity.

 (mother nature will ultimately decide where your ceremony will be, this is decided the morning of your Wedding)

If you are hoping to invite more than 100 guests for your ceremony, please speak with one of our event managers who can advise.

 

How Many Guests Can You Accommodate in the Day and the Evening?

We can seat up to 150 guests in the Pavilion for a seated meal, and up to 250 guests for the evening.

The space in the Pavilion can also accommodate smaller numbers, for couples who would prefer a more intimate day/evening.

 

Is East Mersea Hall Available for Exclusive Hire?

We are completely exclusive use here at East Mersea Hall, on your Wedding Day it will be you, your guests, and our team here to take care of you.

 

Are you inclusive of the LGBTQ+ community?

Absolutely. We proudly welcome and celebrate couples of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Love is love, and we are honoured to host weddings for everyone.

 

Is your venue accessible to all?

Absolutely. We are committed to making our venue welcoming and accessible for all guests. Please reach out to discuss any specific requirements so we can help make your celebration seamless for everyone.

 

Do we need wedding insurance?
Yes, we recommend that all couples arrange appropriate wedding insurance for added peace of mind.

 

Timings of the day, access for suppliers.

We work closely with all our couples as we understand that no two couples have the same vision for their day. Timings of the day are worked out once your ceremony time has been confirmed and is dependent on your guest numbers and style of catering. There is no one set of time fits all.

 

Suppliers have access to the Pavilion form 09:30am, collection must be midnight.

Our Coach House is available from 10:30am the morning of your Wedding. Check out is 10am.

 

Are you pet friendly?

We understand that pets are a part of many families (including ours)!

Your pet can be here for your ceremony (you must make your registrars aware) and can be here for your drink’s reception for some photos after your ceremony. They must then be taken off the premises.

 

Do you have enough parking?

Yes, our team will be here to guide guests from the moment they turn into our driveway.

We do also have an overflow carpark that our team can manage should it be needed on your Wedding Day.

 

Who Will Be the Point of Contact in the Lead-Up to the Wedding?

Your event manager will play an integral role in the lead up to, and of course on the day. We build strong relationships with our couples, so that we have a clear understanding how you want your day to run!

 

Are There Any Décor Restrictions?

We only allow any loose petals décor to be natural petal only (this can be dried if you would prefer) This includes confetti.

We can’t allow any real flames in the Drawing room, any real candles being used in the Pavilion, the flames must be contained.

No nails or glue can be used our walls inside & out.

We cannot allow anything to hang from our beams in the Pavilion or in the Drawing room.

We do not allow couples to do their own chair décor (public liability insurance is needed)

We do not allow any stand-alone mirrors to be used as table plans or welcome signs.

 

Do You Have Your Own In-House Catering Team?

We do! Having our own in-house catering team ensures quality control at every single step! We offer all styles of catering, from traditional 3 course menus, to our popular more informal styles of food like our BBQ’s & Hog Roasts, we offer it all.

 

All couples who have booked canapes, a 2, 3 course or BBQ menu are invited for a complimentary tasting, where our team talk through all your foodie questions, ensuring peace of mind when the day arrives that every aspect has been taken care of.

 

All dietary restrictions can be catered for, whatever your choice of catering may be.

 

Can We Bring Our Own Alcohol? Do You Charge a Corkage Fee?

All drinks must be provided by East Mersea Hall. We can offer wine & champagne upgrades if requested.

 

Can You Accommodate a Live Band or DJ? When Can They Set Up?

We sure can, evening entertainment plays such an important part in ensuring the celebrations continue when the sun goes down!

Set up times are discussed with your event manager to ensure no timings clash with any other elements on the day.

We have a sound limit of 97 decibels.

 

Payments, VAT included?

All payments made to East Mersea hall are inclusive of VAT.

There are 3 ways to pay for your Wedding here at East Mersea Hall.

 

  1. £1,000 to secure your date. 50% due 9 months before your wedding, final balance due 5 months before your wedding date.
  2. £1,000 to secure your date. Interest free – monthly payments, final payment due 4 weeks before. (15th of each month)
  3. Payment in full at the time of booking – we can offer a reduced price on your package for this option.

 

How Long Can We Provisionally Hold a Date For?

We can hold a date for you for up to 48 hours without a payment. It is so important you take that time to discuss such a big decision together, once you are ready to proceed, we can send your next steps!

 

How can I arrange a viewing?


You can contact our team on the below details to arrange your personal viewing. Viewings are by appointment only, we do not show couples the venue when we have events on, so please call in advance on 01206 384 630, or email us.
